A recent survey of the forest products industry in the country of Canada has revealed that most industry analysts believe that lumber producers will likely double the amount of their profits in 2012 and that local lumber companies might actually see more than six thousand jobs created as a result of higher demands for things like black walnut lumber and other impressively priced woods. 2011 wasn?t a bad year for lumber production and growth either, but the industry wasn?t nearly as healthy as analysts expect it to be in 2012.
Reasons for the improvement in the lumber industry are being tied to the fact that the housing markets in more than one country around the world have been improving lately as some countries have come out from under the weight of a recession. One such country is the United States, which has experienced an increase in the amount of houses being built for the first time in many years since the recession started in the middle of the last decade. Another country that has been experiencing a housing boom that is even stronger than the United States is that of China and much of Canada?s wood has been headed toward the Chinese mainland in the past year.
One of the reasons why international exportation of wood to countries other than the United States has become so common in Canada is because the United States placed some tariffs on imported lumber to help protect its own logging industry which meant that to retain high profits, Canadian lumber companies started looking to places like China.
